Tom Hiddleston is one of the most successful actors in Hollywood. The role of a God of Mischief, Loki in a series of films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe brought him the worldwide fame. However, Hiddleston got the critical acclaim after starring in the British TV series The Night Manager.

The series is based on the novel by John Le Carré, published in 1993. The Night Manager is a spy thriller consisting of only six episodes. The format of the mini-series is becoming increasingly popular in connection with the release of Sherlock, Game of Thrones, Big Little Lies and so on. In the case of the Night Manager, we can argue that this story has only benefited from a small number of episodes. It is not prolonged, and events are developing very rapidly, so you will not be bored by what is happening on the screen. The show is filmed qualitatively and there are both dynamic action scenes as well as breathtaking scenes of nature.

The plot focuses on the story of a former British soldier Jonathan Pine, an ordinary administrator working in a hotel in Egypt. Once the girlfriend of arms dealer seeks help from him. However, Jonathan cannot help her on time and the girl is murdered. After some time, Jonathan Pine faces the man responsible for her death. This is elusive arms dealer, whose name is Richard Roper. In an effort to stop him, Jonathan agrees to cooperate with the British intelligence service. He needs to ingratiate himself to Richard Roper, his family and friends. Character of Hiddleston enters into a dangerous game where the stakes are constantly rising. Intrigue, confusing plot lines, dangerous plans, and romance, it all allows you to watch the series in one breath.

The Cast of the series

Yet the main highlight of the show is the cast. The inimitable Hugh Laurie, known for the role of Dr. House, is acting as the main antagonist of this story. His character is attractive and dangerous. He lives in a gorgeous house, has a wonderful wife and a life that anyone could have ever asked for. Until you find out that he is responsible for innocent people being killed all around the world. Olivia Colman plays the role of an employee of the intelligence service Angela Burr, risking everything to perform the operation to catch Roper. In addition, there is a charming Elizabeth Debicki, who copes with the role of the adorable mistress of the main villain.

The Hero of Hiddlestone

Tom Hiddleston in this series appears in the role of fearless hero, seducer of women and a good person, willing to do anything to stop the villain. Hiddleston is very good at playing diverse characters: his Loki, the antagonist in the movie Thor and Avengers, has won the recognition of millions of fans around the globe, and the role of Adam in tandem with Tilda Swinton from “Only Lovers Left Alive” made to empathize for a couple of vampires. In The Night Manager his character is brave and he is on the side of good. Nevertheless, he curries favor with suspicious Roper, and, at some point, the viewer wonders where his loyalties lie.

It is not surprising that the show has three Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Tom Hiddleston), Best Supporting Actor in a Series (Hugh Laurie) and Best Supporting Actress (Olivia Colman). What is more, the series got other prestigious awards like BAFTA TV Awards and 68th Primetime Emmy Awards. The Radio Times voted The Night Manager the best British TV series of the year 2016. IMDb gave the show 8.2 out of 10.

The best work

All in all, it is obvious that to date the role of night manager is the best in the career of actor Tom Hiddleston. After the series came out there were rumors that he could get an offer to play the role of James Bond, but since Daniel Craig is not going to resign, this information appeared to be just fake news. However, the popularity of the series and particularly Hiddleston gives us hope that someday we will see season 2 of The Night Manager and probably more new movie roles of Tom Hiddleston.
